Who we are…

The University of Alberta CWBA/AWS Student Chapter consists of both local and international graduate students who are completing research at the Canadian Centre for Welding and Joining. With our advisor Prof. Patricio Mendez, we have fostered a rich and diverse environment around welding in academia and industry for over a decade.

To aid industry’s continuous development and integration of welding, our chapter annually hosts and conducts a seminar themed around a prominent welding topic.

What we do… 

Our stature and network allow us to showcase internationally renowned personnel who have immediate expertise and experience in a selected theme.

Proceeds from our seminars directly support student participation in national and international conferences, enabling them to share their research on a global stage.
